What is BIOmega -3 Kids?
BIOmega-3 Kids is a fish oil preparation. Fish oils are the main dietary source of omega 3 essential fatty acids which contribute toward many biological functions in the human body. Omega 3 fatty acids are rich in the beneficial Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and Docosahexanoic acid (DHA).

The habitat in which the fish grow has a major influence on the amount of fatty acids they contain. Fish eat plankton, which contain Omega 3. The colder the sea the higher the concentration of omega 3 the plankton will contain, so oily cold water fish such as salmon, tuna and mackerel have the highest levels of omega 3, and farmed fish contain lower levels.

How does BIOmega-3 Kids work?
EPA (Eicopentaenoic acid) is important for maintaining healthy brain function.

DHA (Docosahexaenoic acid) is an important ‘building block’ of all nerves, cells and eye membranes.

What do you take BIOmega-3 Kids for?
Fish Oil may help with normal brain development in growing children. 60% of the brain is made of fats, 30% of which are essential fats.

Fish Oil may help to maintain a healthy immune system, respiratory system, joints and digestive system.

How much BIOmega-3 Kids should you take?
Pharma Nord recommends 1-2 capsules per day. In case of problems swallowing the capsule, it can be pierced and the contents taken with juice or in yoghurt.

Which is the best form to take?
For a good level of omega-3 fatty acids rich in EPA and DHA, and for children who do not like fish, BIOmega-3 Kids is an excellent choice. The oil is screened to remove heavy metals, pesticides and industrial toxins, such as PCB’s. BIOmega-3 Kids also has a pleasant lemon flavour.

Are there any contra-indications?
Fish oil is generally well tolerated with rare reports of gastrointestinal disturbance in susceptible individuals. There are no reports of serious adverse effects.

In cases of children taking anti-coagulant medications such as aspirin and warfarin, care should be taken as fish oil products, such as Omega 3 may inhibit blood clotting.

Pregnant and lactating women and those on medication should seek professional advice prior to taking nutritional supplements.
